How Do You Know If The Yorkies For Sale In Colorado Are The Right Breed For You

By James Gray

Someone who is looking for a puppy, but lives in a small apartment or condominium, has to be careful about the companion they choose. The pet has to be comfortable living in a small space and quiet enough not to disturb their neighbors living just a wall, floor, or ceiling away. The Yorkies for sale in Colorado belong to one of the most suitable breeds on the globe for apartment dwellers. On top of that Yorkshires are the most sought after toy breed in the United States.

With their silky coats, cute little topknots, bright eyes, and larger than life personalities, these puppies are a wonderful addition for the right families. They are not the dog for everybody though. If you have little kids, you do not want this tiny canine. Most responsible breeders don't sell pups from their litters to families with kids younger than six or seven.

Families who are gone all day, and have to leave their pet alone for long periods of time, need to find some other breed. If grooming, or having your pet groomed regularly, is something you don't have the time or interest for, you should look somewhere else. Yorkshire terriers can be hard to house train and usually need to be crated. Families without the patience to get over this hurdle need to select a breed easier to train.

Yorkshires can be yappers, which can bring you in conflict with your neighbors, and drive you crazy, if you do not teach him early on when to raise the alarm and when to be quiet. Most Yorkshires see Rottweilers when they look in the mirror and won't think twice about confronting unfamiliar dogs. To avoid this, you have to take pains to socialize them at a very young age. Yorkies will sometimes pick at their food and have the kind of digestive issues that need the attention of a vet.

These dogs might snap if you startle them and can develop separation anxiety if they are on their own too long. Your Yorkie is very intuitive. He can sense your moods and will react accordingly. When you are overprotective or nervous, you will make your pup nervous and anxious.

Your Yorkie may not lose his baby teeth. If this happens you need to take him to the vet. This can become a problem, as the adult teeth try to move down, and lead to eventual tooth decay.

On the up side, you won't be spending hours outdoors exercising the puppy. Yorkshires are active dogs, but they are usually satisfied with walking about the block if they have plenty of indoor activities and playtime. These are not cold weather dogs. Overexposure can make them sick.

Generally speaking these are healthy little dogs. Yorkshires are prone to some conditions just like all breeds. You should always get copies of the health certificates of the mother and father to check off genetic problems. All in all, Yorkshires are wonderful pets for dog lovers looking for affectionate, bright, elegant little dogs.
